Norah Karrouche on community heritage collections in CLARIAH

In the Stories in Motion project Norah Karrouche and Arno van der Hoeven develop a model for collecting and enriching oral history data.

The partner of the the Stories in Motion project, DIG IT UP, has been selected as a good practice for Cultural Heritage in Action, one of the actions of the European Framework for Action on Cultural Heritage of the European Commission.

The Eurocities network produced this video on DIG IT UP and their partners. In the video, Norah Karrouche talks about the collaboration between DIG IT UP and CLARIAH and the Media Suite.

Karrouche: Our storycycle model is intended to design a workflow that organisations like DIG IT UP can use to make the data and oral histories that they collect, available for a very diverse audience so that these oral histories can be reused by citizens themselves, through DIG IT UP or through the municipal archives. But also by researchers, lecturers, teachers and journalists through a research infrastructure like CLARIAH”.

A first community heritage collection, Ziel van de Wederopbouw of Verhalenhuis Belvedere, is already partially available in the CLARIAH Media Suite. More information about this collection can be found here.
